Dr. Magdalena Spariosu
Hi, I’m Dr. Magdalena Spariosu—but most people just call me Dr. S. I’m a psychiatrist, a listener, a collaborator, and someone who genuinely believes that healing starts with feeling heard and understood.
Over the past 20 years, I’ve worked with people facing all kinds of challenges—stress, trauma, medical illness, addiction, burnout, grief, and everything in between. I’m quadruple board certified (yes, that’s a thing!) in general psychiatry, brain injury medicine, addiction medicine, and consultation-liaison psychiatry. But the heart of my work has always been the same: connecting with people and walking alongside them through tough moments and toward brighter days.
I’ve served in leadership roles in hospitals like Hackensack Meridian Health, ChristianaCare, and Englewood Health, helping design programs that make mental health care more accessible, collaborative, and compassionate. Now, through TeleHOPE Psychiatry, I get to offer that same level of care in a more personal way—whether you’re in my office in New Jersey or joining me virtually from New York or California.
I speak English, Romanian, and Serbian, and I love weaving culture, creativity, and science into the care I provide. I believe in prevention just as much as treatment, in laughter as much as insight, and in partnering with you—not just prescribing to you.

The day that I decided that I would like to become Dr. Spariosu's patient was after weeks filled with disappointing consultations. I had a consultation with her and then had another left for the day.
